BOAT ACCIDENTS

When a boat accident occurs that causes significant personal injury or death, the operator is required to file a report within 48 hours.  Failure to do so is a crime.

An operator is at fault if he acted negligently.  That is, if he failed to act as a reasonable person would under the same, or similar, circumstances. 

An operator should be expected to be sober, follow safety rules, keep a proper lookout, and minimize dangers to his passengers.
